BASIC INFORMATION LITERACY COURSE

This workshop is designed to develop knowledgeable library users in retrieving, filtering and organising information for learning and teaching purposes.

 

The objectives of this course is:

  1. To enhance knowledge about library resources.

  2. To improve strategic information searching skills.

  3. To be able to identify trusted and non-trusted information from various sources.

  4. To be able to apply information found in daily tasks.

Hands on tutorial by the Librarian on utilizing Library resources

Day 2

Course Content

Presentation on findings by participants based on the given topics. Participants can choose between:

 

  • conducting a live presentation (date will be confirmed later)

 

Or

 

  • submission of their presentation slides through a database (link will be given during the first day)

 

Each topic will be assigned to a group of 2-3 academics who will be expected to present their findings to the facilitators.

*Satisfactory completion of the two-day sessions will enable the participants to be awarded with a Basic Information Literacy License (BILL) certificate.

Newly joined faculty members are encouraged to participate in this course in order to enhance their skills and support students in developing information literacy skills.
